Stick or Biwa pearls

The Biwa pearls are produced in Lake Biwa, the largest and the most ancient lake in Japan. Its production utilizes the freshwater clams. The stick or the Biwa pearls are irregular in shape. They have good luster and color. The clam has a small square of mother of pearl inserted into it instead of a bead. These pearls take a very long time, about three years for the best results.

Different types of Biwa pearls are:

Center drilled Biwa loose pearls strands- these Biwa pearls are center drilled long stick pearls with a length of 15.5”. These center drilled Biwa pearls are available in pink, lavender and white colors.

Colorful length drilled Biwa loose pearl strands- these pearls are length drilled pearls that are up to 15.5” long. These pearls are available only in baby blue and lawn green colors. The Biwa pearl measures approximately about ¼” to 5/8” long.

Length drilled Biwa loose pearl strands- these are the length drilled pearls that are 15.5” in length. They are available in four colors cream white, pink, mauve, and peacock black with multicolored overtones like green, blue, purple, etc. the biwa pearl ranges from 7/8” to 1” in length. Each strand has about 18 pearls on it.

Center drilled Biwa loose pearl strands- these pearls are very irregular pearls in terms of sizes and shapes. They are available only in mauve or grey colors. This is a unique color combination of Biwa pearls having multi-colored overtones. It’s rugged and a natural appearance will do wonders in your everyday jewelry making. There are around 55-60 pearls on every strand. The central drilled Biwa pearls are about 15.5” in length.
