The Siberian tiger is also known as the Amur, Manchurian, Altaic, Korean, North China or Ussuri tiger. Though it once ranged throughout Western and Central Asia and eastern Russia, it is now completely confined to the Amur-Ussuri region of Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai in far eastern Siberia, where it is now protected. It is the biggest of the eight recent tiger subspecies and the largest living felid.

The Siberian tiger is famous for its pelage and eye. The pelage of the Siberian tiger is moderately thick, coarse and sparse compared to that of other felids living in the former Soviet Union. People hunted Siberian tiger before because its pelage played an important role in resisting cold in ancient time.

The eyes of Siberian tiger have unique golden and brown bands, they glitter with a small ray of light on the eyeballs and appear different colors when it is awaking from rest.

Genetic research in 2009 revealed that the current Siberian tiger is a now extinct western population. But it can not extinguish western people’s interests in tiger eye beads and products in Tiger Stripe designs.
