Mabe pearls are hemispherical shaped pearls. They are grown intentionally, by using a hemispheric nucleus, rather than a round one. Then implant it against the oyster’s shell, not within its tissue. The pearl then develops in a hemispheric form with a flat back.
The genuine mabe pearls in the picture are about 13mm available in AA- and AAA grade. They have high luster without much irregularity. Mabe pearls can be fully drilled, side half drilled and bottom half drilled to make pearl earrings, pearl rings, pearl pendants and even pearl bracelets.
Genuine mabe pearls might have slight blemishes and it is very rare to find other colors except white. But mabe shaped southsea shell pearls we have in different sizes are without any blemishes and with very high luster. Besides, they can be in different colors, such as peacock black, gold, peacock green, pale pink, mauve etc. As the left picture shows, these are 16mm half-drilled southsea shell pearls in mabe shape.
These pearl earrings are made of mabe shaped southsea shell pearls. They are beautiful and liked by many customers. If you would like to customize them with needles, we are able to do that for you. No matter you want to have one for yourself or give as a pearl present, it is very attractive.
