Older generation remember Houston for her amazing voice, while listeners today feel her impact from her influence on stars such as Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey. Yesterday, February 11, 2012, on the eve of the awards show she once reigned, at 48 Houston was found dead at 3:55 PM in Los Angeles. The cause of her death remains unknown.
Houston is remembered for the two parts of her life: when she was on top and when she was in trouble. When Houston was on top, she was on top of the world. Not only was she gifted with a breathtaking voice, but she maintained a professional persona. When she appeared in public she always appeared dignified. She emulated elegance and was looked to as a fashion role model for attractive and refined tastes. Towards the end of her career, her perfect life started to crumble.
Besides her music, many remember Houston for her tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown. Later, she also started to abuse drugs.
All in all, Houston will always be remembered dearly for the music she gave us. RIP
